Tridacna squamosa

These clams live in primarily protective sites among corals and on a sand bottom. Generally they do not have to be anchored down and in the aquarium, sometimes offer only loosely attached byssal threads. They are very hardy in the aquarium and grow quite rapidly. They do best under Metal Halide or LED lighting. Most are commercially available specimens and are almost always from clam breeding facilities but beware. The small ones less than 2” are very difficult to keep. We only offer the large specimens which have the best chance of being a long term addition to your reef.
