Yes that is our frag tank set up with 80 degree optics and the LEDs are driven at 700mA. The PAR is the same as a 250-400 watt MH.

Do you think a 24" heatsink with 48 LEDs be enough to cover a 36"W x 18"L x 25"H SPS tank with most of the sps corals in the upper 2/3 of the tank?

Thats a loaded question. 48 LEDs on a 24" heatsink with 80 Degree lenses will have more LUX than a 400 watt MH at the same distance. The MH does cover a larger area but in our aquarium environment the LEDs can use Optics to cover the tank without wasting light. Also a 48 LED fixture with fan was 133 watts on a KillaWatt the 400 Watt MH was 426 watts plus the heat.

You mention in your diy link that these leds are equal to a 400 watt halide bulb. How many leds does it take to get this strength of lighting output.

Rene

I would start with 72 on a pair of 30"x10" heatsinks. Thats LED 6 kits for $630 the heat sinks are around $60 each.

March 20th, 2010 at 11:51 am
I have a standard 125 6′ X18″ most sps and a few sps how much LED do I need and how much will be the cost for every thing

The lights should ship out next week you can order them above or on this address for more LED products. http://www.reefecosystems.com/products/lighting/led-reef-lighting/

There is a lead time involved and as we receive more products we will update our list.
